Fixing the Online Repository

Red Ribbon GNU/Linux is based on Debian and uses it’s repositories to provides the most of the packages to install the applications.

Debian has dropped the support for PowerPC BE (the platform on which the PS3 is based) and has archived the Jessie repositories, but don’t worry, I’m working to solve this inconvenience.

For now, in order to continue using the Debian Jessie repositories, it is necessary to update the sources.list directory and change the lines “ftp.debian.org” to “archive.debian.org”.

To apply the fix, you can edit the sources.list file manually or open a lxterminal and download the file:

wget https://redribbongnulinux.000webhostapp.com/downloads/online-fix-2019-06-05.sh

Then, you can execute it:

sudo sh online-fix-2019-06-05.sh

New Website and Online Repository available

I was having problems with the previous website because it was almost always offline.

I was looking for an alternative hosting to store the repository and then I also decided to migrate the blog to this new website.

For use the online repository, you need to connect the PS3 to the internet, open a lxterminal and download the file:

wget https://redribbongnulinux.000webhostapp.com/downloads/online-update-2016-03-18.sh

Then, you can execute it:

sudo sh online-update-2016-03-18.sh
